My interest in shooting began in 2020, and I began to take several pistol and carbine classes over the next 2 years. During the summer of 2022 I took some long range classes in order to set a solid foundation of fundamentals and knowledge. Throughout the course of my training, I was exposed to competition style scenarios and that’s when I realized I had the bug.

My first competitive event wasn’t until March of 2023 and it just so happened to be an IWI gas gun match. One of the experiences that got me even more hooked into the long range shooting world was the incredible community From the friendships and comradery, to the overall energy at the matches, it was an easy hobby to feel very welcomed into. I was very fortunate to have taken 5th place in my division for the season that very first year.

After recapping and analyzing my season, I followed the advice of a very wise gentleman that I had met who told me very simply, “NO more classes! If you want to improve, start shooting matches!” With that advice at the front of my mind, I shot the entire 2024 IWI gas gun season, multiple PRS regional matches, and a 2 day pro series match. I was fortunate enough to win the division in all my PRS matches that year.

I am no superhero and don’t have any magic tricks up my sleeve. I just happened to be a regular guy who fell into a hobby he loves, met some incredible people and ended up being half decent at it. For the future I plan to participate in the IWI gas gun series and begin competing in more PRS regional matches as well as multiple 2 day matches during the 2025 season.

Words of advice to new shooters and old shooters alike, lean on the community for help and be helpful yourself! Give advice and help guide others when you can. This sport is constantly evolving and the need to share knowledge and experience to help each other is perimount to maintaining the amazing community we have!
