Standout Features of The Tavor X95 Compared to the SAR
Latest Update: September 20th, 2024
This blog explores the distinctions between the Tavor X95, the latest iteration of the bullpup rifle family, and the Tavor SAR, the original model introduced to the U.S.
X95 Has A Slimmer Profile Compared To The SAR
The Tavor X95 features a shorter buttpad compared to its predecessor. Additionally, while the bolt release remains in the same location, it has been designed to be more flush with the frame, enhancing the rifle’s ergonomics and streamlining the reloading process.
New Trigger Pack
Examining the trigger, the Tavor X95 features a significantly lighter pull weight compared to the original Tavor SAR. The X95’s trigger pull is approximately 6 pounds, whereas the SAR had a much heavier pull of around 11 pounds, representing a substantial improvement in trigger responsiveness.
Mag Release Receives An Ergonomic Upgrade
While the magazine well remains in the same position, the Tavor X95 features a redesigned magazine release button. On the Tavor SAR, the button was situated in a less conventional location, requiring users to either hit it while pulling out the magazine or use a more radical hand motion to bump the release for quick reloads.
In response to user feedback, the X95 places the magazine release button closer to the trigger finger, positioned at the top for quicker access. This change aligns more closely with the AR-15’s traditional layout, facilitating faster reloads and improving overall user satisfaction. The bolt release remains in its original location, further enhancing the Tavor X95’s ergonomic design.
Versatile Grip Configuration
The Tavor X95 introduces enhanced versatility in its grip design. It comes standard with a cutlass-style grip, but users have the option to switch to a traditional pistol grip if preferred. This is achieved through a simple screw mechanism that allows for easy replacement.
Charging Handle Position Moves Closer To The User
Another notable update in the Tavor X95 is the repositioning of the charging handle. In the X95, the charging handle is moved closer to the shooter, improving accessibility and reducing the risk of knuckle contact with optics, a common issue with the forward-placed handle on the Tavor SAR.
More Picatinny Rails & Opportunity For Customization
This adjustment has also freed up space for additional Picatinny rails. The X95 features three rail sections in the traditional 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, allowing for versatile mounting options such as vertical foregrips, flashlights, or lasers on either side. In contrast, the Tavor SAR offered only a single rail option, with additional rails available only as aftermarket accessories.
Better Ambi Versatility For Sling Attachments
One of the final enhancements in the Tavor X95 is the addition of extra swivel attachment points. The X95 now includes three swivel points on one side and two on the other, with the flexibility to configure them for either right- or left-handed shooters. This is an improvement over the Tavor SAR, which only provided three swivel points in total. These additional attachment options offer greater versatility and convenience for sling setups.
