Home Defense Pistol Course – 2 Day – 10/18 – 10/19
DETAILS
This course is designed to teach specific techniques in shooting the pistol in home defense situations. Additional information will be presented on planning, linking up safely with law enforcement and strategies in creating a residence which favors the homeowners defense of the home. There will be multiple individual runs in a shoot house during the day and night to refine techniques discussed on the range. This course requires moderate to significant physical activity.

Core Topics
Core topics that will be covered include:
- Presentations from concealment
- Reloading techniques (and considerations)
- Carry positions of the pistol when not holstered
- Primary and support hand only shooting of the pistol
- Use of a flashlight in low light conditions
- Use of a hand held flashlight with a pistol
- Shooting around cover day and night
- Shooting on the move
- Basic room clearing (single person)
- Ground fighting
- Retention shooting

Requirements
Firearms Requirements:
- Serviceable pistol with at least 3 (5 preferred) 15+ capacity magazines or 8 magazines if the weapon utilizes single stack mags
- Pistol mag pouch that can accommodate 2 spare magazines
Students must provide their own pistols. There will be no rental weapons.
Ammunition Requirements:
- 500 rounds pistol

FAQ
What does the cost of registration cover?
Cost will cover the course only. The student is responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals (unless otherwise indicated), firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.
Do I need a background check to attend training?
Yes, unless you have a current state issued concealed carry permit.
*If so, then you will need to upload a copy of your permit and driver’s license during registration in lieu of a background check.
I don’t have a concealed carry permit. How do I obtain a background check?
Sentry Link offers a National Criminal Background Check for a fee of $19.95 per report.
Once the report is obtained send the report to training@iwi.us to have it included with your registration packet. You can send the report via the “Share” button.
How do I pay for the course?
During the registration process, you will be asked to enter your payment information or voucher code in order to pay for the course. This payment is required to hold your place in the course due to class limits and the management of student / instructor ratios. Cost covers the course only (unless otherwise indicated). Students are responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals, firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.
Refund/Reschedule Policy:
- Cancellations: If you cancel no later than 30 days prior to the start of your course, your payment can be applied to a future course for up to one year. If you cancel within 30 days of your course start date, your payment is non-refundable. However, that balance may be applied to another course within one year.
- Refunds: You can receive a full refund up to 30 days prior to the start of your course. Any amount over $250 is fully transferable or refundable if you cannot make the class for any reason, with or without notice.
- Reschedule: You can reschedule up to 2 times without penalty. After that you are no longer eligible to transfer your payment to a future course and forfeit your refund.
