This course is designed to familiarize students with LPVO (Low Powered Variable Optics) and Red Dot + Magnifier optical systems on their carbines. To use them to best effect, students will cover the advantages and complexities of these optics and their use at both close and extended ranges. Students will be able to use a variety of rapidly assumed supported positions for extended distance shooting to at least 400 yards. Magnified optical systems, LPVO, RDS+Mag, and LPVO+RDS all offer unique flexibility to the user and pairing that to a carbine. The advantages of your rifle, optic, and ammunition can to get a successful effect on target within the whole effective range of the rifle.

Your instruction will be conducted by members of the law enforcement and special operations community.

*This course may require some moderate physical activity.

Firearms Requirements:

  • Quality Tavor/ X95/ M-4/ AR-15/SCAR/Carmel based system with 1-6 or 1-8 LPVO
    • Rifle Magazine Carrier that Accommodates a Minimum of 3 Spare Magazines.
    • Rifle must be equipped with a 2 point sling

Students must provide their own rifles.  There will be no rental weapons.


Ammunition Requirements:

  • 600 Rounds of 5.56/.223 NO GREEN TIP

Gear Requirements:

  • Seasonally appropriate clothing
  • Rain gear
  • Knee and elbow pads
  • Hat
  • Boots/hiking shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Water bottle (Suggested)
  • Hearing & eye protection

What does the cost of registration cover?

Cost will cover the course only. The student is responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals (unless otherwise indicated), firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.

Do I need a background check to attend training?

Yes, unless you have a current state issued concealed carry permit.

*If so, then you will need to upload a copy of your permit and driver’s license during registration in lieu of a background check.

I don’t have a concealed carry permit. How do I obtain a background check?

Sentry Link offers a National Criminal Background Check for a fee of $19.95 per report.

Once the report is obtained send the report to training@iwi.us to have it included with your registration packet. You can send the report via the “Share” button.

How do I pay for the course?

During the registration process, you will be asked to enter your payment information or voucher code in order to pay for the course. This payment is required to hold your place in the course due to class limits and the management of student / instructor ratios. Cost covers the course only (unless otherwise indicated). Students are responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals, firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.

Refund/Reschedule Policy:

  • Cancellations: If you cancel no later than 30 days prior to the start of your course, your payment can be applied to a future course for up to one year. If you cancel within 30 days of your course start date, your payment is non-refundable. However, that balance may be applied to another course within one year.
  • Refunds: You can receive a full refund up to 30 days prior to the start of your course. Any amount over $250 is fully transferable or refundable if you cannot make the class for any reason, with or without notice.
  • Re-Schedules: You can reschedule up to 2 times without penalty. After that you are no longer eligible to transfer your payment to a future course and forfeit your refund.
